Obituary of Michael D. Wilson

Michael D. Wilson, 49, formerly of Utica, NY born September 7, 1966 in Logan, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 29, 2016. Michael is the son to the late Willie Jean Curtis and Albert Wilson. Educated in Utica city schools, where he excelled in band. Michael loved music, dancing, cooking and working with his hands as a mechanic. He spent much of his free time splitting wood and enjoying the outdoors. Everyone who knew Mike will always remember him cutting up the dance floor and being the life of the party. Michael was employed at Mountain Service Distributors in South Fallsburg, NY as a truck driver for the past 20 years. He will be missed by his fellow employees and his long time customers on his truck route. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Willie Jean Curtis. Survived by his children: MyKala, Michael and Phillip Wilson of Virginia and Melania Wilson of South Fallsburg, NY. His sister, Ruth Curtis of Utica, NY and brothers: Tom Curtis (Albany, NY), Greg Curtis (Florida), Vincent Curtis (California), Norman Wilson (Jennifer) of Utica, NY and Jonas Curtis (Chiquitha) of Virginia. A special aunt: Betty McBride; special nieces: Evita, Shawntae, Amber and Chiquitha. Special nephews: Sammy, Marcus, Jonas, Greg, Jr. and Che. Three special cousins: Terri McBride, Sabrina McBride and Nicole Toles of Utica, NY. Special family from New Jersey and his beloved friends of Utica, NY. He will be truly missed by his loving companion; Olivia Fairweather, who was always there for him and who has a special place in the hearts of our family. Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am with service immediately following at 11:00 am at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Services, Inc., 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501. Interment will be on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2201 Oneida Street, Utica, NY at 10:00 am.
