Viola “Vi” Willis, born on August 20, 1962 went home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2016. Viola, a loved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend was born to the late Charles Willis and Janie (Filmore) Willis.
Viola is survived by three sisters: Vernita Wright; Cynthia Nelson and Janice (Lawrence) Willis-Elliott, all of Utica, NY; two brothers: Rodney (Kendra) Willis of Maryland, DE and Amon (Gloria) Willis of Ohio; six children: Javonda (Mackins) Montanez; Jose’ Montanez; Jone’sa (Jermaine McCarthy) Montanez; Jamon Montanez; Freda Farley and Fredy (Jennifer) Farley, all of Utica, NY. 9 grandchildren, 5 nephews, 2 nieces and a great-grandson.
Viola was schooled in the Utica, NY district and graduated high school from UFA. She later obtained her certificate as a CNA and worked at Broad Acres and Heritage Healthcare Center. Viola loved music, singing and especially that good ‘ole “fried chicken.”
Viola will be missed by all but her spirit never forgotten. She was predeceased in death by her father, Charles Willis in 1992.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle St., Utica, NY 13501. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.
