Obituary of Dorothy Diane Flagg

Dorothy Diane Flagg, 69, of Utica, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare. She was born in Utica, NY on October 8, 1947 to the late Mr. William and Louise (Brown) Flagg.
Dorothy was educated in Utica, and graduated from Utica Free Academy. She also received a Secretarial of Science Degree from Utica School of Commerce.
Dorothy was formerly employed by Utica Community Action and the Oneida County Department of Social Services. She was proud to be the Tenant Relations Representative for Washington Court Apartments.
Dorothy was a long-time member of St. Matthew’s Temple COGIC where she served on the Usher Board and was the secretary; she also was a member of the Hospitality Board, and she sang with both the Senior choir and the Women’s choir.
Dorothy was a member of the Eastern Star Friendship Chapter #9, International. She was a proud member of the original Screaming Eagles. She was an avid bingo player; she played softball for the Soul Sisters; and during her quiet time she would crochet.
Dorothy is survived by her loving and caring companion of 43 years, Joseph J. Allen; her mother Mrs. Louise Flagg. Her siblings: Billy (Emma) of Vineland, N.J., Ronald of West Palm Beach, Fl., Robert (Joyce) of Utica, and Tommie (Rene’) of Decatur, GA. Her Godson, Antonio Ward; Special Friends: Janet, Minerva Newkirk, Sharon Chastine, Claudine Jones, Charlene Brown, Betty Joyce King, and Shirlette Green. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dorothy was predeceased by: her father, Mr. William Flagg; brothers: Wallace and Danny and her sister, Viola.
The family would like to thank Dr. T. Lee, Dr. Watson with special thanks to the nursing staff at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare 2nd Floor AC2 and the Rehabilitation staff at the St. Lukes Nursing Home.
