Obituary of John Frank Brooks, Sr.

John Frank Brooks Sr. 73, of Utica, NY, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at home, while having his family by his side. On September 22, 1942, John was born in Shorterville, Alabama to Seaborn and Bernice (Allen) Brooks. In 1963, John relocated to Utica and he later married Pearline Erven in June 1964. From this union, three children were born, whom he loved, treasured and devoted most of his time to. John is survived by his two sons: John F. (Valerie) Brooks of Long Beach CA, Raymond Derrick (Christine) Brooks of Virginia Beach VA, and one daughter, Danielle (Markus) Watson of Utica, NY. John was predeceased by his wife, Pearline (Erven) Brooks, his parents, Seaborn and Bernice Brooks and one brother, Willie Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memories: one brother; Thomas (Marquerite) Brooks of Utica, NY; 11 grandchildren; Johnathan, Raymond Jr., Danielle, Latoya, Leonard, Vernon, Maya, Brittney, Domizchelle, Kaitlin and Dejanee; 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special heartfelt thanks to the Hospice support team and caregivers Ann and Rich (RNs). Services for Mr. Brooks will be held on Tuesday, April 25 at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm with Mr. Brooks funeral service to immediately follow.
