Obituary of Crawford Gary

Crawford Gary, Jr., 77 of Utica, NY was born on January 7, 1940 in Americus, GA to the late Crawford Gary, Sr. and Anna Mae Gary, passed away on July 24, 2017 with his family by his side. 

Crawford was educated in Americus, GA and later relocated to Utica, NY where he met and married Lizzie Gary.  Crawford first became employed at Hotel Utica, leaving a few years later to become a restaurant owner on Lafayette St. and once he closed the restaurant he became a machinist at Utica Radiator, where he retired.  Not wanting to "let grass grow under his feet", he began washing vehicles at Mayz Carwash as well as various other jobs.

Crawford leaves to cherish his memories his children: Barbara, Dorothy, Valerie, Delores, Sherly, Crawford III, Lizzie, Clifford, Aziza, Mary and Kizzie (all of Utica, NY); sisters:  Kattie Mae Lusane (Bellgrave, Fl); Henrietta Blue (Syracuse, NY) and brother: Willie Frank Gary (NY Mills, NY) as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

Crawford is predeceased by his wife, Lizzie Gary, parents:  Crawford & Anna Mae Gary; sisters: Mary L. Spells and Betty Ann Gary.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for all the well wishes, calls and visits during our time of grief.  Dad was a man who believed in the Lord and may he cast his blessings to all those he touched when he was here.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 11 - 12pm at The House of God, 1304 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13501.  Crawford's funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm, with Elder Mary Hawkins officiating along with Elder George Clark and Reverend Arthur Gary.
