Obituary of Ulysses Bo Jones
Mr. Ulysses Bo Jones, 94 of Utica, NY went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2018.
Ulysses was born on August 13, 1923 in Dublin, GA to the late Ernest and Ella (Williams) Jones. Ulysses was educated in Georgia. He enlisted in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII.
Ulysses relocated to Utica, NY where he met the love of his life, Mary Lee Cave. They were later married on October 4, 1962 and enjoyed over 55 years of a wonderful, adventurous life together. He was employed by the local Buick dealership and Remington Arms, where he retired. He then became an employee at LB Security.
Ulysses was a longtime, faithful member of St. Paul's Baptist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of his church family. He was also a mason member.
Ulysses was well-known and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife had a true passion for fishing, boating and entertaining. He became the life of the party telling jokes and unforgettable stories. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, watching baseball games dressing up and spending time with his wife.
Ulysses enjoyed good food, followed by a good cup of coffee and his trademark pipe.
Ulysses leaves to celebrate his homegoing, his wife Mary Lee, his stepdaughter, Pearline Berry (SC) and his brother, Hosea Jones (NYC), as well as a host of grandchilren, great grandchildren, god children, nieces, nephews, in-law and friends.
Ulysses was predeceased by his parents, six brothers: Charlie C, Napoleon, twins: James and John, Walter, Homer Lee and Curtis, and six half sisters.
Ulysses' homegoing service will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at St. Paul's Baptist Church, 219 Leah Street, Utica, NY 13501.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm with service immediately following at 1:00 pm.
