Obituary of Talib Ad-Deen Islam
Talib Ad-Deen Islam, 46, son of Jose' Lopez and Josephine Alice Gonzalez, entered into this world on February 23, 1972, Bronx, NY as Reinaldo Luis Lopez, went to be with Allah on December 16, 2018.
Brother Talib, "aka" Little Brother to his sister, Kimberly Weekes (Fl), the motheringly sibling who raised him, held a special place in his heart. Lovingly offering guidance and support without hesitation or request. Just as his sister held a special place in his heart, so did his niece, Crystal "Bam Bam" Weekes, who he was incredibly proud of all that she accomplished, especially her achievements in Martial Arts. "Bam Bam" represented the Puerto Rican territory in the last Olympics, acknowledging her heritage both proudly and with honor.
Brother Talib, not one to display his hurt, shared a special connection with his wife Asiyah, married June 25, 2010, a union 8 years of marriage.
Never one to be critical but always supportive, offering a smile when most people would not understand "why", would often share short stories with his wife and family. A man about town, always out but always under the watchful eye of Allah.
Brother Talib was a grandpa and loved the joy his grandchildren brought to his life: Misaiel, Jao, Jaida, Jayla, Kemoin, Zaiyier, Kei'onna (smallest and newest), he was also very proud of all his nieces and nephews.
Talib, a man devoted to his faith in Islam, loved and respected the bond of brotherhood, and the brothers honored that bond with grace to carry Brother Talib as "Honorary Pallbearers" (Ibrahm, Yusuf, Latif and Ahmad), December 20, 2018.
One of the special memories shared by his wife, Asiyah, was the love Brother Talib had for words. He had an amazing lexicon, constantly expanding his knowledge base, always willing to share and educate. He left this earthly world with kind words for all those he encountered and a smile for all that were blessed to be in his presence.
