Obituary of Cheryl Lee Torres

Cheryl Lee Torres, 61 of Utica, NY passed away on January 30, 2019 with the love of her family holding her close in their hearts. Cheryl was born on August 26, 1957 in Albany, NY to Mark Mitchell, Sr. and Marie Howard.

Cheryl met and married the love of her life, Adalberto Torres.  Highly favored by all.  “Alberto” was the perfect example of what it meant to be a “Husband”, “Dad” “Man” and “Friend”.  Cheryl and Alberto were always the center of where people needed to learn how to “keep it real” to the point of where it was funny.  Cheryl mourned the death of Alberto from the moment he left this world until the moment she decided to join him.  Finally, back together, both mom and dad will be missed deeply by all.

Cheryl was a homemaker, baker, confidant and "mother" not only to her two children but to all those who needed a place for a strong shoulder to lean on or just a hug.  Home truly was to her was where her "heart" was...spending time with her children and grandchildren put the smile on her face. 

Cheryl leaves to carry on her laughter and smiles, her children: Tamara (Batime) Francois and Demetris Thompson, Sr.; sisters: Theresa Bullock and Denise Footman; brothers: Mark Mitchell, Jr. and Lloyd Mitchell; grandchildren:  Quantasia, LaDrece, DiaMohnii, JaiVaughn, JahLeihl, Louis, Deara, Demetris, Jr., Hanif, Javohnii, Jace and Keiarah, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, Adalberto Torres, parents: Mark Mitchell and Marie Howard, stepfather C.B. Bullock; grandmother Leona Grimes and uncles: Paul Grimes, James Grimes, Bobby Holmes and Donald Grimes.

The family would like to thank all those who have extended their expressions of sympathy during this time of grief.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in honor of Cheryl Torres.
