Obituary of Allen Demetrius Jefferson

A soldier of the cross in the Army of the Lord, Allen Demetrius Jefferson was called from service to reward. Allen was born in Utica, New York on March 26, 1967 to the late Jerrorld Jefferson Sr., and Arnette Jefferson (Deese).

Allen was educated in Utica, attending St. Francis DeSales, Miller School, John F. Hughes Elementary, Utica Free Academy, and Mohawk Valley Community College. Allen chose to follow in his father’s footsteps, and enlisted into the United States Army in 1985, where he served honorably for 4 years until his discharge in 1989.

Continuing in his father’s footsteps, Allen began to shape his musical teaching he learned at the hip of his dad into a career. Working under the tutelage of Mrs. Constance Whitfield, of Hope Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church and Mrs. Angela Smith of St. Paul’s Baptist Church, Allen took what he learned from his musical mentors and began serving several churches in the Greater Utica Area and beyond, regardless of their denomination.

As a provider for his family, Allen worked at the local Walmart Distribution Center, for 8 years, where he was known by his co-workers as a hard worker with a great smile.

Sharing in the celebration of his life and the pleasant memories made, is his wife: Anitra Jefferson. Siblings: Jerrold Jefferson Jr., Utica, NY, Nathan (Maria Salazar) Jefferson, Port Washington, NY, Jacqulyn (Larry) Grant, and Antoinette Page both of Philadelphia, PA. Children: Cameron Curtis, Ashley (Zachary) Engram, Utica, NY., Cyril (Raven) Jefferson, High Point NC., Isaiah Jefferson, Josiah Jefferson, Nakiah Jefferson, and Mariah Jefferson, all of Utica, NY. Grandchildren: Zaccai Engram, Zakhar Engram, Ashawn Engram, Tobiah Engram, Taliah Engram, and Believe Engram, all of Utica, NY. Cyril Jefferson Jr. And Royce Jefferson both of High Point NC. Godchildren: Doneilous King Sr. and Christopher Thornton, Godfather: Alphonso Pearson, Mother: Arnette Jefferson, all of Utica, NY. Aunt: Delphine Bradley of Philadelphia, PA. Uncles: Harrold King Sr., and Stanford Gray, both of Utica, NY.
