Mr. Edward “Boy Brown”, 67 of Utica, NY went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2019.

“Boy Brown” was born on October 9, 1951 in Utica, NY to the late Edward Brown, Sr. and Mary Lee (Gary) Spells.  Raised and educated in Utica, he learned that he had an entrepreneurial nature.  You would always see him with a camera, taking pictures to raise money for his family.  He became known as the “Picture Man”.  He was also known for his saxophone, which was self-taught in the reading and playing.  

Edward, was a God-fearing, dedicated, faithful parishioner who knew the Lord. 

“Boy Brown” leaves to cherish his memories, his children:  Edward Brown 3rd and Tamika Brown; sisters: Barbara Jimenez (Utica, NY); Sarah Brown (California);  Valentine Spells (Utica, NY); brothers: Richard (Diane) Brown (Utica, NY); Harry (Rose) Brown (Utica, NY) and William Spells (Virginia); a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and cousins.

The family would like to acknowledge a select few who were incredibly special to “Boy Brown”; uncle Willie Frank (Gary); cousin Raymond Jackson; friend Jesse “Ghost” Patterson; Mae Helen Spratt-Fulton and Claudine “Baby Sister” Jones.

Edward is predeceased by his aunts: Katie Mae Lusane (Belle Glade, FL); Henrietta Blue (Utica, NY) and his uncle Crawford Gary (Utica, NY).
