Obituary of MacArthur McCovery

MacArthur McCovery was born to Mac McCovery and Jeanette Goyens-McCovery in Utica, New York on
January 4, 1951.

MacArthur went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, June 29, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was raised and educated in Utica Schools, a lover of music, basketball and Martial Arts in which he attained the status as a certified 2nd Degree Black in Tae Kwon Do. He began playing drums for this church at the age of 4 years old and went on to play professionally with the best band in Utica and the surrounding areas for a group known as "Jack and the Naturals". Later in his life he developed a desire to play the Pedal Steele Guitar also known as the Hawaiian Guitar of which he played for his church. Mac was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.

He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife Gloria J. McCovery, his sons Damian Zion Zaahir(Coshonda) McCovery, MacArthur McCovery III, Darryl Dawkins and Rahmel James, two daughters Latasha M. (Dennis) McCovery-Johnson, and Jackie Morgan (Tom) Reed, brothers, Johnny McCovery, Terrie (Evette) McCovery, Kerrie McCovery, of Mobile Alabama , Robert Flagg, Ernest (Bubble) Brown, Gary Washington, and George Wright, sisters, Nettie (Poppa) McCovery, Wendy (Rev) McCovery and Ernestine (Johnny) Roberson. 

Mac also had a special relationship with this group of beautiful women, who showed him so much love, encouragement and spiritual support. He claimed them forever as his sisters. Carrie (Patty Duke) Wright, Debra Washington, Joyce Flagg, Rose Billingsley, Cynthia Camber, Joann Buchanan, Loretta Johnson, Lucille Mallard, Priscilla Yancey, Elizabeth Knight and Shirley Reed.

Mr. McCovery is predeased by his father, Mac McCovery, his mother Jeanette Davis, his stepfather Ernest (Pop) Davis, two brothers, Charles (Deborah) McCovery, George McCovery, one sister, Brenda McCovery-Brown, one granddaughter Shauntae Morgan,and one niece Denise McCovery.
 

This family Thanks you, salutes you and count it all joy for your acts of kindness, telephone calls, the love with words of encouragement, comfort and all of your prayers. God bless you and keep you all in perfect peace.

The three most important dates in our lives, the date we are born, the date we discover our purpose and the date your name is called. Lets all make sure that our life was lived to reflect who God created us to be. Amen
