Ollie Mae (Jackson) Pearson, 82 of Utica, NY, passed away at Presbyterian Home on February 23, 2020, opening her arms to God in eternal peace. Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, auntie and friend. Ollie Pearson was born in Clayton, Alabama on August 25, 1937 to the late Lloyd and Carrie Jackson.
Ollie spent her life loving her family, being a hard worker (Holiday Inn, Broadacress, St. Luke’s Home and Birnie Bus), enjoying cook-outs fishing, gardening and traveling. Ollie was a God-fearing woman, she believed in treating people as they would treat you. She took care of her family unselfishly throughout the years. Ollie always stated that you must work hard in life for the things you want. Ollie will always be remembered for her loving, giving ways to her family and relatives.
Ollie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Frank Pearson, Sr. on August 13, 1957, resulting in 56 years of marriage. From this union were three boys and three girls.
Ollie leaves to cherish her memories, children: Rose (Stanley) Simmons, Morris Pearson, Robbie (Matthew) Hill, Robert Frank (Brandy) Pearson, Jr., Rodney (Alycia) Darell and Allita Pearson; sister Ida Mae Williams; a nephew who was like a son, Steve Pearson; grandchildren: Genese Simmons, Jeremy Simmons, Kristina Hill, Kamryn Hill, Giovanni Pearson, Robert Pearson III, Trevaughn Pearson, TaShawn Pearson, Armani, Pearson, Iyanna Pearson and Rodney Pearson, Jr. ; one great granddaughter, Alana Calloway; she also cherished a loving and special relationship with nephew and niece Stanley and Rebecca Sykes; as well with her numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A special acknowledgment to her brother-in-law Lemon (Lula Ba) Pearson.
Ollie was predeceased by her high school sweetheart, Robert Frank Pearson, Sr., parents Lloyd and Carrie Jackson, brothers: Joel Jackson, Major Jackson, Henry Jackson and James Smith; sisters: Aleen Jackson and Dorothy Bass.
The family acknowledges their appreciation to RCIL Daycare program, specifically to Heidi, the caregiver for their exceptional care of their mother. And also, to all who have called, stopped by or sent a message of sympathy during our time of grief.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at The Greater Highway Deliverance Temple, 1705 Whitesboro Street, Utica, NY.
The family receiving and viewing will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 pm with funeral service immediately following.
