I just happened to Google Nick's name remembering him as a mischief maker along with my Husband, Terry & BIL Mal Myers back in the 60's. When I showed Terry Nick's picture, he remembered Nick stopping by Mals house in 2015-16 , when Mal was dying of cancer. Terry was his caretaker. Nice to see Nick was well loved.
Condolences to his family

Nicholas M. Mariano, age 75, born in Syracuse, New York, passed away comfortably and peacefully, at The Onondaga Center Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, on May, 12, 2020, from long term medical complications. The eldest son of Patsy P. Mariano and Mary F. (Grandinetti) Mariano (both deceased). Educated in East Syracuse, and pursued his passion as an Auto Mechanic.
In the past several years, Nick lived in a Senior Home, in East Syracuse a very nice apartment, just a couple of miles from where he grew up. Because he had experienced a lot of medical issues, he finally moved into a Very Nice, Long Term Care Center, nestled in the middle of Minoa, NY…where, in his early years spent a lot of time at the local Church and School Dances, located just around the corner, and also where he met a few of the ladies in his life.
While residing at the Onondaga Center Facility, I would like to commend and recognized these Wonderful Professional, Nurses and Staff Members who treated Nick as if he was family, their care, attention, and assistance, was well beyond all could expect, and we Thank Them All, Very Much !
Nick’s father Patsy, worked for the Railroad all of his life and owned a two family home at 404 E. Manlius St., East Syracuse, N.Y., where he raised his sons Nick and Joseph with the help of his Father's parents. Early in Nick’s life his parents Divorced, but remained at this address with his father, brother and grandparents until his grandparents passed and his Father in 1979. Both sons Nick and Joe lived there for several years, after.
Most of Nick’s life, he lived in East Syracuse, next door to his father’s brother Louis Mariano and family, who owned a combination, luncheonette and pool room on Main St. in E. Syr., and at that time, was the central gathering place, for young and old. Nick and Joe grew up healthy, safe and with plenty of affection and attention by family.
Both brothers were very close, and always tinkered with mechanics, in their early teens built their own go-cart, from materials they had in their barn/garage…using a lawn mower engine, for power…actually, ran pretty good. They would race it in the large empty lot adjacent to their home.
Over the years, they both enjoyed working on Automobiles, back in the 50’s and 60’s building bigger and faster cars…didn’t quite work out all of the time, but Nick did end up with a Beautiful 1956 Supped Up two door Chevy…and owned an early model Corvette, so, speed was in his blood. He and Joe loved to attend the Local Drag and Stock Car Races, and helped out friends who had cars in the races.
As the brothers grew, Joseph decided to join the US Air Force, where he served with Honor, with a tour in Vietnam. Nick, tried the Military and joined the Army, for a short stint, but discharged early and decided on another path in life. He had an interesting journey, always enjoying all that he did, and was a Bit of a Rascal and Rogue, but had a lot of friends he met along the way.
Nick, left his mark on this earth and will be remembered with Love and Affection, to all those who knew and spent time with him. I know he was rough around the edges, but inside he had good intentions, some of his soft side, was he loved his animals and had several small dogs over the years, and took care of them as much as they loved him, he would make contributions to local charities (Food Bank, Wounded Worriers, and other worthy organizations). He was of Catholic faith, maybe didn’t attend church as often as he could, but was a devote believer and he truly loved his friends and family.
Nick left behind numerous friends, family, estranged wives/children and ladies he loved.
Those closest to him in his final years, were Cousin Steve, half-sister Julie, and his niece Christina.
Nick’s brother Joseph Mariano, moved out of state, several years earlier, and moved around with no permanent forwarding address.
We will miss you, remember you, and never forget the times we all shared… RIP in the Hands of God !
*All services will be private and his ashes laid to rest, by his sister Julie.
