Obituary of Claudine Linder-Jones

Claudine Linder-Jones (76) of Utica, NY entered her eternal rest in the comfort of her home on January 18, 2023. Claudine, known to most as “Babysister” was born on November 1, 1946 in Smoaks, SC, to the late Kara Holloway Linder-Reed and the late Jerry Linder Sr. Claudine is the widow of the late Robert Jones. Claudine received all of her education in Belle Glade, FL before moving to Upstate, NY to embark on a brighter future. During the course of her life, Claudine has worked many jobs including, Oneida Cutlery where she worked for several years before retiring in the early 2000’s. After retiring, Claudine spent most of her time hosting family members, traveling, or just enjoying her free time. At a very young age, Babysister gave her life to Christ while attending Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Utica, NY. It is this same edifice where she later became one of Metropolitan's Church Mothers. Serving the Lord was something that Claudine lived and breath daily. She was a firm believer in God and she knew without a doubt that in everything God has the final say. In every meaning of the word “Mother” Claudine was just that! She became a mother figure to everyone she would encounter especially the friends of her children and grandchildren. Her house was “the house” to be at. Babysister loved to play bingo, card games such as hot seat, spades, tunk, and pokeno. She enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren. Claudine loved watching her TV shows whether it was a game show, a western show, or sports that she watched faithfully with her late sister Pumpkin while being in two different states. Claudine leaves to cherish her memories her children: Mary (Connell) Oats, David Roberts, Willie Linder, Stanley (Tammy) Linder, Zackery (Kim) Linder, and Yolanda (Jahmel) Linder Martin. grandchildren: Lamar, Anthony, David Jr., Willie (Mook) Jr., Willie (Garrett), Barbara, Jelesa, Horiesha, Tyreek, Trent, Stanley Jr., Mercedes, Clarissa, Gabriel, Jair, Phoenix, Deondre, Ayden, Jeffrey, Lanesha, Kyasia, Godfrey, Cavon. A host of great grands and one great-great grandson. Her siblings: Robert Linder, Joyce (Grailing) Carter, Donna Hudson. Sister-nieces: Shirley (Randy) Newton and Laverne Robinson. Godchildren: Wenona Smith, Andrew “Lil Joe”, and Mark “Gene” Bell. Claudine was predeceased by her parents Kara Linder-Reed, Jerry Linder Sr. Her siblings: Adolphus Long, Jerry Linder Jr., Shelba “Sister” Robinson. Marvin “Pal” Thomas, Geraldine” Pumpkin” Linder Flagg-Daniels, Charmel Linder, Viola Linder, Willie Hudson. Her children: Baby Linder, Thomas Linder, Christopher Linder, Maurice Linder, Cynthia Linder, Irvin Linder. Lifelong partner James Hawkins. Her good friends Mrs. Linda Forman, and Ms. Blondell and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
