Mrs. Queen Esther (Young) Williams, 90, of Utica, New York, departed this life on Saturday, November 10,, 2012 surrounded by loving family. Queen Esther Williams was born to Mr. James and Verdie Carter Young on November 26, 1921 in Osceola, Mississippi.
Esther had a full eventful life! During her days of employment she worked for Wilson's Cleaners on Miller Street in Utica, NY. She loved to help those that she could and enjoyed being with family. She enjoyed fishing, various crafts, puzzles, cooking and playing with her great-grandchildren when she could.
Queen Esther Williams was the Matriarch of the Young/Williams Family. She will forever be loved and missed. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Silas Williams, Sr.; Sons: Silas Williams, Jr. (Butchie) and Joseph N. Williams, Sr. (Little Joe); Siblings: John, James, Jr., Isaac (Big Ike), Bessie Young, Shirley (Charity) Jones and Lula Mae Lemon (Aunt Money).
Her legacy and strength will live on through her children: Bernice J. Williams, Forestine E. Williams, Paul D. Williams of Utica, N.Y; Della M. Williams (Hill) of Sacramento, CA.; and Maisa Laureen Young of Liverpool, N.Y; and adopted daughter: Mrs. Brenda Muhammad of Syracuse, NY; Grandchildren: Brian Carter, Michael (Tawanda) Carter, Jesse Pittman, III, Laurie Carter, Melina Carter, Lucille Carter, Lee Herron, Jr., NaKeshia Herron, Matthew Hill, Sr., Amos Hill, III, Victoria Ferguson, Juan Williams, Joseph N. Williams, Jr., Malissa Williams, Robert Williams, and Breanka Williams. Many great and great-great grandchildren.
Memories of her life will continue to be honored by her two sisters: Velma Young of Memphis, TN, and Mrs. Mattie J. Wright of Hughes, AR. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews, including Larry (Flatcher) Beavers, Isaiah Jones, Ernest (Marla) Jones of Syracuse, NY, Ms. Darlene Young of Utica, NY; Deborah Brown of Union, NJ, many friends at Steinhorst Square, where she resided for many years and a very special friend, Mrs. Helen Wilson of Utica, NY.Calling hours will be 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Matthew's Temple C.O.G.I.C., 110 Washington Street, Utica, NY followed immediately by funeral services at 1:00 pm.
