Obituary of Arthur James Bell
Arthur (Art) James Bell, 68, of Utica, NY, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 15, 2018. Arthur was born in Clayton, Alabama on July 29, 1950 to the late Robert Louis Dorsey and Bernice J. Bell.
Arthur was educated in Clayton, until he relocated to Utica, in which he graduated from Utica Free Academy. While attending U.F.A., he ran track and field, earning numerous medals and breaking many records. Upon graduation, Arthur continued to pursue his education at both The State University of New York at Albany and Utica College.
Arthur was employed early on as a supervisor of the Utica City Parks and Recreation. He then worked as a surveyor at Stetson Dale, which led to his employment at Utica Community Action, where he worked for many years. Arthur then worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at the Insight House, where he impacted the lives of many individuals. He was last employed at the Utica City School District as a Computer Technician, which he loved immensely, until his health prohibited him from doing so.
Arthur was a quiet individual who possessed much wisdom and intellect. He enjoyed engaging in deep conversations with family members and friends. He had a passion for music, whereas he played percussion, guitar, and bass in the bands that he was actively involved in and in his leisure time.
Arthur is survived by a daughter, Pamela Pulluiam, of Utica, NY; four siblings, Robert (Marilyn) Bell, of Freeport, NY, Anthony Bell, Delmarshia Curry, and Mark Johnson, all of Utica, NY; two grandsons, Malik K. Pulluiam and Najee M. Pulluiam; and two great-grandsons, Mekhi and Malakai Pulluiam, of Utica; two aunts, Annie R. Bell and Lena Bell (Utica, NY); special friends, Bill Bryant and James Cummings (Utica, NY) , Donald King (Syracuse, NY), and Dan Patterson (Rome, NY); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Arthur is predeceased by his parents.
Services will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501.
